The wrong way to find life
Perhaps you have been taught that man can do anything, if he
only
puts his mind to it. To a degree this may be true. However,
take a closer look at the matter: 1. Communism, a system
based
on man's innate abilities, failed tragically. 2. Naziism,
another
system based on man's ideas, failed as it turned on its own population
and tried to subdue the whole world, again tragically. 2.
The
United States, however imperfect, was from the beginning founded and
built
upon God's Word as the source of instruction and law. The
newfound
humanistic orientation currently in the United States has brought about
an ever-expanding need for prisons even while murders and thefts
multiply
at an increasing rate. For over a hundred years these rates were
more or less related to the growth in population, but have increasingly
outpaced population growth since prayer was taken out of our
schools.
Economically, the middle class, characteristic of our nation from its
beginning,
is evaporating into poverty as public sector costs go up and taxes
escalate.
God's ideas found in His Holy Word worked for the people. Man's
ideas,
without regard to God, are eroding the very institutions which made
this
country great. Where do we find life?
God's Word teaches that we should not lean to our own
understanding,
but go to the Creator to find the way to life. See Proverbs
3:5-6
In fact, God's Word also informs us that we have been especially
created in the image of God, meaning we are created both belonging to
God
and with a definite place for God to be in and a part of our
lives.
See Genesis 1:27
God's Word tells us that every one of us have missed the way
that God created us to go. See Romans
3:23, Isaiah 53:6, Isaiah
64:6
God's Word also tells us that we are not capable of finding our
way in the darkness of this world. See John
6:44
But God's Word tells us that He, in His merciful love, has
provided
a way for us to come to Him and be a part of His family, His
kingdom.
See Romans 6:23
The way to life
Very simply, God has lovingly and mercifully provided a way for
his creation to come back to Him and find true life and dignity.
See John 3:16, John
1:12
Many people have great ideas about life. Jesus Christ,
the annointed Messiah, is unique in that He has conquered death.
See Romans 14:8-9, Romans
1:4
Jesus Christ fulfills hundreds of prophecies penned hundreds
and even thousands of years before. See Micah
5:2, Isaiah 53:4-5, Isaiah
7:14, Acts 10:39-43, Psalm
22 (especially verses 1, 7-8, 16, 18, 26), Genesis
3:15
Jesus Christ offers us life and peace, and that more
abundantly.
See John 10:10, John
10:28, Philippians 4:7, Psalm
23
Jesus Christ offers to us the gift of being his honored children
for eternity. See Romans 8:17,
Galatians
3:26, Galatians 4:7, Revelation
3:21, John 1:12, John
3:16
Jesus Christ is the way to life, the only way to the God who
created us. See John 14:6,
1
Timothy 2:5
Entering this New Life
Jesus Christ is knocking at the door of your heart today.
He wants to come in and live in your life, giving you eternal life in
His
Kingdom. Are you willing to let Him in? See Revelation
3:20
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and He will change your life
now, heal your spiritual life, and give you eternal life. Romans
10:9-13, Acts 2:38,
And then what....
Jesus Christ asks people to spread the Good News about His
Salvation.
And you will want to tell others about the change in your life,
too.
See Acts 4:20, Matthew
28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Romans
10:9-13
God's people join together in a congregation called a church,
meaning the "ones called out" by our Lord Jesus Christ. After the
resurrection of Jesus, the disciples regularly met on the first day of
the week--Sunday. Followers of Christ are admonished to meet
together.
See Hebrews 10:25, Isaiah
58:13-14
Find a church that both considers the Bible the Word of God
and studies the Bible as their authority for life. Continue
studying
God's Word. Twice the Congress of the United States saw a
shortage
of Bibles and had Bibles published for the people because of its
importance.
Do not neglect reading God's Word to us. See II
Timothy 3:16-17
Jesus Christ himself was baptized. You will want to be
baptized, also. The word "baptize" is from the Greek language and
is like the Anglo-Saxon word "dunk". To baptize is to place under
water. This can be seen as two pictures. One picture is of
Jesus Christ washing away our sins. See Acts
22:16, Psalm 51:7, Isaiah
1:18 The other picture is of putting our old, sinful way of
life,
on the cross with Jesus where He paid the price for our sins. The
lowering into the water is a picture of our burial of our old way of
life
with Jesus Christ. And the rising from the water pictures God's
resurrection
of us to new life in Jesus Christ. See Romans
6:3-11
This action on our part of giving ourselves over to the care
and direction of our Lord Jesus Christ, and having faith that He is the
Son of God and our Saviour is basic. It is proper to be baptized
to fulfill all righteousness. See Matthew
3:16, Acts 8:36-38, Acts
16:30-34
In your fellowship with other people directed by the Word of
God, you will find a new and happy way of life, under the leadership of
Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit. See John
14:16-20 You will want to pray, or talk, to God a lot,
just as all great people in Scripture did. See the Model Prayer Luke
11:1-4, Matthew 6:7-15,
and
also I Thessalonians 5:17-18, James
5:16
