Read God's Word through in a Year:
Single
Reading Daily--Genesis 19-21
Dual Readings in God's Word: Old
Testament
and Psalms--Genesis 13-15; Psalms
15-17
Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his
children and
his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do
justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which
he
hath spoken of him.
These were trying times for Abraham and his wife, Sarah.
They had been promised a child, but were beyond child bearing
years!
Yet, Abraham remained faithful and continued to consistently honor God
(Genesis 21:33). The Lord God testified that "he will command his
children and his household after him." This is contrasted with
his
nephew Lot who was unable to even convince his sons-in-law the
seriousness
of God's planned destruction of the homosexual haven of the city of
Sodom,
of which Lot had become a ruling member, "siting at the gate." We
can see several things from these chapters: God demands
obedience!
God rewards obedience! God respects those who lead others to
obedience!
Jesus died on the cross to assure a lavish heavenly reward for the
obedient
believer. But it is not profitable to be among the
disobedient.....
