Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up
on the earth,
and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God
ascending and descending on it.
"Jacob's Ladder", have you ever made one with strings between
your fingers? But really it wasn't Jacob's ladder, it was God's
ladder!
God had a message that he didn't want Jacob to forget! And he
didn't
forget, and he didn't miss the importance! He says in the 16th
verse,
"Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not."
Beth-el
in Hebrew is "house of God." Here Jacob was running for his very
life, and God promised him, "I am with thee, and will keep thee
in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again
into
this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that
which
I have spoken to thee of." (Genesis 28:15) David, the one the
Lord
said was a man after his own heart, said, "The Lord is my shepherd, I
shall
not want." (Psalm 23:1) We have two basic choices in life:
Live a life without God, or live our lives in accordance to God's Will
and in recognition of Jesus Christ as our Savior. Abraham, Isaac,
Jacob (renamed Israel), Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Peter, and
thousands
of thousands of others, including the rich man who went to hell, would
plead for the latter! (Luke 16, 27-31) Make sure by
believeing
in Jesus Christ, that God opens up His ladder to you!
