Read the Bible through in a Year:

Reading Daily--John 2-3
Dual Bible Readings in Old Testament and
New
Testament--Ezekiel 1-2; Hebrews

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting
life.
There is no better news that any of us could have. These
words are probably the most concise expression of eternal consequences
in the human language. I would guess that no other words have
been
translated into more languages than these. There could scarcely
be
more important words in the universe. On the one hand there is
the
love of God for a broken world--read the newspapers! On the other
hand there are eternal consequences for our choices. One eternal
destination is used in common parlance, freely, to mean most anything,
but it properly refers to what Jesus called a place where the worm
never
dies, and the fire never goes out. Graphically, Jesus was
referring
to "gehennon," the "valley of the sons of Hinnom," which in previous
centuries
had been used to pass their children thru the fire, the odious practice
of child sacrifice. The place was so despicable that it was now
used
to put burnable garbage in the fire on one side and perishables on the
other side where the maggots never stopped working. If you can
get
the feel of such a place, this is the kind of place Jesus came to
prevent
our entering for eternity. Jesus was, and is, the Son of
God.
Our responsibility lies in the area of belief. It is easy to look
at a catwalk and say, "I believe it is safe." It is a totally
different
level of belief to let our actions show our belief. and walk it.
In the same way, "whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have
eternal life!" And He is faithful concerning His promises.
Will you trust Him and step out in faith? Not on a shaky, narrow,
bridge, but into a life of seeking, trusting and obeying our Lord, and
Saviour, Jesus Christ.
